Editor, OBSERVER:
As a baby boomer and a voracious reader, I have some questions for progressives. For almost 50 years they have been cheapening the value of life and money. Starting with the removal of silver from coins in the '60s , to the repudiation of Bretton Woods to the pouring of water-ethanol in our gasoline, they have not stopped. We are now burning our food so you can feel good.
Progressives gave us eugenics, a gift from the Darwin family. We now had science on our side for mass, forced sterilizations of the so called feeble and the elimination of undesirables. Still they did not stop.
They took the price of a public college education and made it rise faster than oil and inflation. I know because I graduated SUNY Fredonia in '76 with money in the bank on a minimum wage job. I commuted but the feat cannot be duplicated without student loans today.
They have regulated even the small things in life. America is now the land flowing with taxes and regulations.
A noted New York City resident said, "You, the progressives and government types must be ignorant or evil." To those, I ask. Ignorant or evil? What say you ?
