ALLEGANY - Gowanda couldn't overcome Allegany-Limestone's efficient offense and dropped as they dropped its CCAA Division 1 girls' basketball game, 61-43, Friday night.
Hannah Phearsdorf scored a game-high 26 points for the Lady Gators (4-5, 3-2) and also recorded six steals and four assists. Teammate Lindsey Forness added eight points and nine rebounds.
Despite the impressive performance from those two Lady Gators, it was free throw shooting that made a big difference in the outcome. Allegany-Limestone shot 18 of 23 (78%) from the charity stripe, which helped put the game away.
Gowanda (4-5, 2-3) was not without it's highlights. Katie Stang turned in an impressive performance with nine points, eight steals and six rebounds. Alexa Farner got in on the action with eight points to go with her nine rebounds.
The Lady Panthers don't return to action until Thursday, when the team hosts another Division 1 foe, Southwestern.
