Hanover Dems' caucus set

Town of Hanover Democrats have set the dates for caucus in the villages of Silver Creek and Forestville.

The purpose of the caucus in each village is to nominate candidates for elections to be held March 20. Silver Creek will meet at the Village Hall at 7 p.m. on Jan. 26.

Candidates will be nominated for two trustee positions and one justice position. Forestville will meet at 7 p.m. on Jan. 31 at 14 Main St. Nominations are for mayor and two trustee positions. All registered Democrats in the respective villages are urged to attend. For more information, call Diane Hall at 934-4691.

Cassadaga Job Corps informational session announced

Cassadaga Job Corps Academy, 8115 Glasgow Road, Cassadaga, will hold a campus tour and informational session on Thursday at 10 a.m.

The tour is free and open to the public.

Job Corps provides Career Technical Training, employability skills development and services for youth age 16-24 at no cost to those who are eligible and committed to a rigorous training program.

High school graduates who are interested in job training and young adults who need their GED or high school diploma as well as job training are eligible to enroll.

Cassadaga is offering training for careers in healthcare and construction. Opportunities to pursue different career training at other Job Corps sites throughout the Northeast exist as well. Residential and non-residential openings are available.

Gasoline costs up this past week

Average retail gasoline prices in New York have risen 3.5 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.67/g Sunday. This compares with the national average that has increased 0.6 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.34/g, according to NewYorkStateGasPrices.com.

Including the change in gas prices in New York during the past week, prices Sunday were 32.5 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 16.9 cents per gallon higher than a month ago. The national average has increased 11.8 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 25.3 cents per gallon higher than this day one year ago.
