State police charge several for selling alcohol to minors
On Saturday, the New York State Liquor Authority and the New York State Police at Jamestown conducted an underage drinking initiative across Chautauqua County.
The following were charged for selling alcoholic beverages to minors:
- Tiffany Farnham, 29, of South Dayton at the AMVETS Post in Silver Creek
- Justin Pope, 18, of Silver Creek at The Green Frog gas station in Sheridan
- Megan Sharp, 24, of Forestville at Cave's Deli in Forestville
- Cassidy Kingsfield, 22, of Forestville at Cave's Liquor store in Forestville
- Janek Kolibar, 38, of Westfield, at the American Quarter in Mayville
All those listed were issued appearance tickets with future court dates. The Kwik Fill in Cassadaga was the only establishment checked and found to be in compliance.
Employees there did properly I.D. the minor attempting to buy an alcoholic beverage.
Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office
- ELLERY - A Bemus Point man was issued tickets after a car-ATV accident Monday morning.
According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office, Donald R. Smith, 50, of Bemus Point, was operating an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) on Bellview Avenue around 11:15 a.m. Smith allegedly backed into the path of a northbound vehicle and was ejected from the ATV.
Smith was transported to WCA Hospital for non life threatening injuries. He was issued tickets for no helmet and operating an ATV on a public highway.
Ellery Fire Department also responded to the accident.
- NORTH HARMONY - Steven Munday, 28, and Sean Munday, 23, both of High Acres, were treated for minor injuries Monday after an accident on Route 394.
According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office, Steven Munday was driving and failed to negotiate a curve, causing the vehicle to enter a large ditch.
He was taken to WCA Hospital for minor injuries and Sean Munday was treated on the scene.
No charges are pending at this time. Ashville and Chautauqua Fire Departments also responded to the accident.

MAYVILLE - District Attorney David W. Foley announced the following pleas and sentences in Chautauqua County Court:
Jessie M. Melendez, 26, of Deer Street, Dunkirk, was sentenced to two years determinate in state prison with two years post-release supervision for fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance.
Ashley A. Seaton, 28, of Falconer, was sentenced to 1-3 years in state prison for fourth-degree grand larceny.
