Two charged with felony burglary
MAYVILLE - On Jan. 31, Randall A. Rothwell, 23, of Mayville and Jeffrey M. Skellie, 24, of North East, Pa. were charged with third-degree felony burglary.
In the early morning hours, the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office was contacted after it was discovered that the storage building located behind the former Ethan Allen Building had been entered.
After the investigation, the sheriff's office reported that Rothwell and Skellie used snowmobiles to steal some scrap metal from the storage building. Officers followed the snowmobile tracks and found the snowmobiles parked next to a house in Mayville. All the items stolen were recovered.
Both subjects were arraigned in the Town of Chautauqua Court and released to probation.
Assistance sought in solving home break-in
The Chautauqua County Sheriff's office is looking for help to solve a local burglary through the WeTip program. This program offers rewards up to $1,000 when an anonymous tip leads to an arrest and conviction. Rewards are paid anonymously through postmasters to protect the identity of the caller.
The sheriff's office is currently investigating a burglary that occurred at 4154 Hewes Road in the Town of Chautauqua between Nov. 22, 2011 and Feb. 1, 2012.
It was reported that the suspect forcibly entered the residence through the back door and stole merchandise inside including firearms, ammunition, knives, jewelry, power tools and a television. During the time of the incident, the homeowners were on vacation in Florida and the house was vacant.

Three charged in drug investigation
JAMESTOWN - Three people have been charged following a narcotics investigation by the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force.
On Thursday at 8 p.m. the city of Jamestown Police Department and the task force executed a City of Jamestown Court search warrant for the lower apartment at 146 Barrows St. The entry was without incident and three subjects were found inside.
Saqid E. Diggs, 25, of Barrows Street was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana. James J. Johnson, 22, of Allen Street was charged with unlawful possesion of marijuana. Elizabeth Davidson, 32, of Crescent Street was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
As a result of the search, quantities of U.S. currency, marijuana, pharmaceutical narcotics, crack cocaine and packaging materials were found and seized.
Diggs is being held in the City of Jamestown Jail. He will be arraigned before Judge LaMancuso and then remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail for further court proceedings.
Johnson was released on an appearance ticket. Davidson is being held in the Jamestown City Jail pending her arraignment before LaMancuso.
The investigation into narcotics trafficking in the Jamestown area is continuing and additional arrests are anticipated due to this search warrant execution.
The Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force is comprised of members of the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office, the City of Jamestown Police Department and the City of Dunkirk Police Department.

SHERMAN - Donald J. Brenyas, 48, of Sherman, was charged Thursday with driving while intoxicated, DWI with a blood alcohol content of .08 percent or higher, unlicensed operator and failure to use a turn signal after he was stopped on Kendrick Street. He was issued tickets and will appear in the Town of Sherman Court at a later date.
JAMESTOWN - Sandra Aponte, 57, of Jamestown, was charged Thursday with first-degree offering false instrument for filing, fourth-degree welfare fraud and misuse of food stamps after she allegedly received benefits for a granddaughter and failed to report to the Department of Social Services that the granddaughter did not reside with her. This allowed Aponte to receive $1,908 in benefits she was not entitled to have. She was issued tickets and will appear in the City of Jamestown Court at a later date.
State Police at Collins
IRVING On Thursday, Troopers charged Donovan Stafford, 31, of Indian Hill Road in Gowanda for felony driving while intoxicated, felony aggravated unlicensed operation and numerous traffic charges, following an afternoon traffic stop on the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation.
At about 4 p.m. troopers reportedly observed Stafford driving his SUV 70 mph in a 45 mph zone on State Route 438.. After stopping his SUV, troopers spoke with him and determined he was intoxicated.
He was taken to state police barracks in Collins, where he refused to take a breath test and was processed. A computer check found he had been convicted of DWI within ten years of this arrest, and he was charged with the felony DWI. His New York state driver's license had also been revoked because of a previous DWI conviction.
He was arraigned in Collins Town Court and sent to the Erie County holding Center on $2500 cash bail.
Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office
On Jan. 29, Lindsay M. Ullman, 29, of Gowanda was charged for possession of prescription pills without a valid prescription. She reportedly had six Tramadol 50 mg. pills in her possession.
Ullman was processed and released on an appearance ticket. She is to answer the charge in the Town of Salamanca Court.
