Alex, Nick, and Bradley Jones recently competed in Harborcreek, Pa. Junior wrestling tournament. Nick Jones came home with first place in his weight/age division, while Alex took third. Last weekend they traveled to Smethport, Pa. and Alex took home a second-placed trophy and Nick took home a third. They are all coached by their father, and former wrestling coach for Silver Creek, Kelly McDanald.

Chili Open Tournament
The Lakewood Rotary Club held it's 11th annual Dale Jacobs Memorial Chili Open Golf Tournament on Saturday at the Busti fire hall and grounds.
Seventy seven golfers participated in the nine-hole event, with the team of Rex McCray, Erik Dahlgren, Ron Basile and David young won the scramble format event with a 20, with the team of Jeff Lukasik, Larry Crossley, Maureen Gray and Deb Woodcock finishing second.
The player who shot closest to the pin on No. 9 was Pat Emley with a distance of 11-feet-10 inches.
Next year's tournament will again be played on Super bowl weekend. Proceeds from this event benefit the Busti Fire Department and local and international service projects of the Lakewood Rotary Club.

Modified high school hockey
The Western New York High School Club Hockey League (WNYHSCHL) modified ice hockey program is looking for participants. To qualify, a player must have been no older than 14 years old on Aug. 31, 2011 and in seventh or eighth grade. No sixth or ninth graders, regardless of age.
The league is also looking for certified hockey coaches (at least card level 1) to coach the upcoming season.

Dunkirk Little League Registration
Dunkirk Little League will be holding three registrations in February. The dates and times are as follows: Sunday, Feb. 12 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.; Wednesday, Feb. 15 from 6-8 p.m.; and Thursday Feb. 16 from 6-8 p.m. All registration periods will take place at the Frank Acquavia Post, located at 211 Lakeshore Drive West.
To be eligible for baseball, all players must be 4-years-old before May 1, 2012, and will not be older than 13 before May 12.
To be eligible for softball, all players who will be 6-years-old before Jan. 1, 2012, and who will not reach the age of 13 before Jan. 1, may register.
All new and returning players must register. All new players must bring their original birth certificate to registration. Hospital and baptismal certificates will not be accepted as proof of age.
The fee is $40 per player, and includes a team jersey with name and number on the back and pants. The price is the same for all divisions, which include T-ball, minors and majors. There will be a $110 cap for three or more family members and a parent or guardian must be present at registration.
Tryouts will be held Sunday, March 4 for required players, with times being announced at registration.
All players will be asked to sell a minimum of two lottery calendars as part of one of the league's fundraisers.
Volunteer forms will be available at registration for all managers, coaches and concession stand volunteers. A copy of any potential volunteer will be needed.
Volunteers are needed to serve as managers coaches and team parents for the 2012 season. Information about how to volunteer or questions about registration can be directed to league president Gary Haase at 366-4452, or 679-6929.
Fredonia Little League
Fredonia Little League will hold registration for baseball and softball Saturday, Feb. 11 from 9 a.m. to noon, and Wednesday, Feb.15 from 6-9 p.m. in the Fredonia High school cafeteria.
Registration will be held for the following divisions: Boys' and girls' T-ball, ages 4-6; Boys' and girls' Hathaway League, ages 6-8; Cerrie League baseball, ages 8- 9 and boys' Wright League baseball, ages 10-12. In the softball division, registration will be held for teams in the minor league, ages 7-9, and major league, ages 10-12.
Participants must be a resident of the Fredonia Central School District
The cost is $55 for the Wright, Cerrie, Hathaway and softball leagues, and $40 for T-Ball leagues. There is a cap of $125 per family. This cap does not include the fundraiser.
All new and returning players must register and a copy of a birth certificate is required for all new players
Coaching and umpire applications will also be accepted at the registration sessions. All coaching applications must be received by FLL Board of Directors by Monday, Feb. 20 in order to be considered for a coaching position.
Westfield Little League
Westfield Little League sign-ups will be Tuesday, Feb. 21 from 6 to 8 p.m., at Westfield and Academy Central School cafeteria and Thursday, Feb. 23 from 6 to 8 p.m., at Eason Hall. Contact League President Matt at 326-2255 with any questions.

Hanover Area Little League
Registration for Little League Baseball for players from Forestville, Irving, Sheridan and Silver Creek for the 2012 season will be held today from 6-8 p.m. at Silver Creek Elementary School Lobby and Thursday, Feb. 9 from 6-8 p.m. at Forestville Elementary School Lobby.
Registration fee is $40 per player. Maximum registration cost per family is $100.
T-Ball players must have turned 4 years old on or before Nov. 30, 2011. Minor league baseball players must be 8 years old on or before April 30, 2012. Little League Baseball Majors must be age 10 on or before April 30, 2012.
Valley League Softball players from Silver Creek, Sheridan and Irving may also register. Softball players must be age 8 on or before Dec. 31, 2011.
Children who live in the towns of Hanover or Sheridan and attend Silver Creek Central or Forestville Central Schools are invited to register.

Week 17 Results and Standings - Whiskey Hills Saloon I is in first with 58.5 wins, followed by Back Yard III 45.5, Witch Kitch II 44.5. Individual leaders for Men and Women are: Men: Bob Warsitz and Dan Matteson with 385 balls and John Leckliter with 383 balls. Women: Patsy Klemens with 369 balls, Dee Emott with 332 balls and Kayla Schafer with 320 balls.
