Jamestown man charged with menacing in Fredonia

An early-morning altercation at the Country Fair on Route 60 in Fredonia on Friday led to the arrest of a Jamestown man.

David N. Payne III, 22, of 215 West Fifth St. in Jamestown was charged with third-degree menacing, fourth-degree criminal mischief, and petit larceny.

Payne allegedly stole a set of vehicle keys from the victim's car. During the incident he also reportedly took the victim's phone, smashed it, and threatened the victim's life.

Payne was arrested without incident and arraigned in the Town of Pomfret Court. He was remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of bail. He is to return to court at a later date.
