Fredonia Little League

Fredonia Little League will hold late registration for baseball and softball Saturday, Feb. 18 from 9-11 a.m. in the Fredonia High school cafeteria.

Registration will be held for the following divisions: Boys' and girls' T-ball, ages 4-6; boys' and girls' Hathaway League, ages 6-8; Cerrie League baseball, ages 8-9 and boys' Wright League baseball, ages 10-12. In the softball division, registration will be held for teams in the minor league, ages 7-9, and major league ages 10-12.

Participants must be a resident of the Fredonia Central School District.

The cost is $55 for the Wright, Cerrie, Hathaway and softball leagues, and $40 for T-Ball leagues. There is a cap of $125 per family. This cap does not include the fundraiser.

All new and returning players must register and a copy of a birth certificate is required for all new players

Coaching and umpire applications will also be accepted at the registration sessions. All coaching applications must be received by FLL Board of Directors by Feb. 20 in order to be considered for a coaching position.

Try hockey for free day

This Saturday, Feb. 18 is "Try Hockey for Free Day" at Steele Hall at 1 p.m., for kids ages 6-12.

Equipment will be provided.

Dunkirk Little League Registration

Dunkirk Little League will be holding registration tonight from 6-8 p.m. at the Frank Acquavia Post, located at 211 Lakeshore Drive West.

To be eligible for baseball, all players must be 4-years-old before May 1, 2012, and not older than 13 before May 12.

To be eligible for softball, all players who will be 6-years-old before Jan. 1, 2012, and who will not reach the age of 13 before Jan. 1, may register.

All new and returning players must register. All new players must bring their original birth certificate to registration. Hospital and baptismal certificates will not be accepted as proof of age.

The fee is $40 per player, and includes a team jersey with name and number on the back and pants. The price is the same for all divisions, which include T-ball, minors and majors. There will be a $110 cap for three or more family members and a parent or guardian must be present at registration.

Tryouts will be held Sunday, March 4 for required players, with times being announced at registration.

All players will be asked to sell a minimum of two lottery calendars as part of one of the league's fundraisers.

Volunteer forms will be available at registration for all managers, coaches and concession stand volunteers. A copy of any potential volunteer's driver's licence will be needed.

Volunteers are needed to serve as managers, coaches and team parents for the 2012 season. Information about how to volunteer or questions about registration can be directed to league president Gary Haase at 366-4452, or 679-6929.

Cassadaga Valley

Cassadaga Valley Little League will hold baseball, softball and T-ball sign ups today and Tuesday, Feb. 28 from 6 to 7:30 p.m., at the Cassadaga Community Building, located on the backside of the Fire Hall.

T-ball is available to children who turn 5-years-old before Dec. 1, 2012. Baseball is for children born prior to May 1, 2004 and on or after May 1, 1996. Softball is for girls born between 1995-2004.

T-Ball registration is $5. The cost is $35 per child, $50 for two siblings and a family fee is $70. A copy of the child's birth certificate is required at sign ups.

Chautauqua County Baseball Umpires' Assoc.

The Chautauqua County Baseball Umpires' Association (CCBUA) will hold its first mandatory meeting this Sunday at 6 p.m., at the Ira Lou Springs American Legion Post 149, 364 Fluvanna Ave, Jamestown.

Members are asked to bring any unused equipment, shirts, pants and jackets to donate/sell to new members.

Anyone with questions should contact CCBUA President Jack Berkemeier.

Brocton-Portland Little League sign ups

Brocton-Portland Little League will hold player registrations at the Ahira Hall Memorial Library in Brocton on Thursday, Feb. 23 from 5-7 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 25 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., and Wednesday, Feb. 29 from 6-8 p.m.

First-time players must provide a copy of their birth certificates and all players must reside in the Brocton School District.

Cost is $25/player for T-ball (ages 4-6) and $40/player for Minor league Softball or Baseball (ages 7-9) and Major League Softball or Baseball (ages 10-12)

Information regarding Major League tryouts, fundraisers, opening day and volunteer opportunities will be available during registration.

Dunkirk Sports Boosters

The Dunkirk High School Sports Booster Meeting is tonight at 5:30 p.m. in Mr. Pietro's room.

All parents, coaches and interested community members are invited to attend.

Silver Creek at FHS?Boys' Basketball Game

Tonight's Silver Creek at Fredonia boys' varsity basketball game will air on Cable Access Channel 19 in Dunkirk and Channel 5 in Fredonia.

Ed Eaker will have the call of the game, which is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start.
