George R. Conklin Sr., 79, of Brant, NY, passed away Monday (Feb. 13, 2012) at TLC/HN Lake Shore Hospital in Irving. George was born on Sept. 14, 1932 in Irving, NY, the son of the late Charles and Goldie (Jamison) Conklin Sr.He married Ruth King on

Nov. 5, 1955 at The Good Shepherd Church in Irving. A lifelong resident, George enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1952 and was honorably discharged on June 30, 1961. He retired from Local 210 Laborers Union, Buffalo, NY, having worked on many construction jobs in the area.George was a member of the former St. Andrew's Church and the Good Shepherd Church, both of Irving. He was also a member of the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed traveling,

watching local softball teams, was an avid Buffalo Bills fan, and especially liked spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ruth King Conklin; four sons, George R. Conklin Jr. of Amherst, Donald L. Conklin of Rochester, Charles M. Conklin of Irving, and James (Cindy) Conklin of Irving; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, George was predeceased by five brothers: Robert, Chester, Carl, Earl and Charles Conklin Jr. Friends may call at Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel, 160 Central Ave., Silver Creek, NY, today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 17, 2012.
