The OBSERVER

MAYVILLE - District Attorney David W. Foley announced Thursday that David Corsi 22, pleaded guilty in Chautauqua County Court to first-degree manslaughter for the March 30, 2011 shooting of Ricardo Vazquez.

The case was scheduled for jury selection next week on an indicted charge of second-degree murder.

The Court committed to a determinate sentencing range between 11 and 15 years with 5 years post-release supervision. Sentencing is scheduled for April 23.

Foley was happy with the plea and expressed his gratitude to the victim's family, stating, "We had extended conversations with the family of Mr. Vazquez and based upon them made the offer to the manslaughter and were able to get a plea."

Foley went on to indicate this case has been resolved successfully with the family's assistance and has brought them an admission of guilt and much needed closure.

Foley further praised the Dunkirk police for their efforts in putting the case together.
