Silver Creek Central Middle School honors Students of the Month

SILVER CREEK - The Silver Creek Central Middle School announces the Students of the Month for November. The students were selected based on the following criteria: strong work ethic, dependability, helpfulness, respectfulness and cooperation with others.

The sixth-grade recipients are Jonathan Pulver and Kaylee Winchell. Jonathan is the son of Scott and Carol Pulver of Irving. Within school, he plays the saxophone in both the band and the jazz band and is a member of the broadcast club and the science and technology club. Outside of school, he is a member of the Christ Chapel Youth Group and takes piano lessons. His favorite activities include reading "The Guinness Book of World Records," playing video games, playing saxophone and piano, and watching sports with his father. His goal is to one day become a statistician.

Kaylee is the daughter of Toni and Nate Bagwell of Silver Creek and Geoff Winchell. Within school, she is a member of the broadcast club, the yearbook club, the sewing club and ski school. Outside of school, she participates in a youth soccer league. Her favorite activities include reading, watching movies, hanging out with family and friends, and baking. She is interested in one day becoming a fashion designer.

The seventh-grade recipients are William Shevlin and Mariam Akhdar. William is the son of Charles and Lin Shevlin of Silver Creek. Within school, he sings in chorus and is a member of the science and technology club. Outside of school, he participates in a youth hockey league and he is a member of the Boy Scouts. His favorite activities include playing video games, hanging out with friends, and playing sports. He is interested in one day becoming a video game programmer or a hockey player.

Mariam is the daughter of Brandy Bowman of Irving and Loren Montour. Within school, she is a member of the Grapevine (middle school newspaper). Outside of school, she is a cheerleader for the Seneca Sachem's football team. Her favorite activities include baking, painting, reading, and doing arts and crafts. Her goal is to become a baker and own her own bakery.

The eighth-grade recipients are Jacob Lewis and Emily Berek. Jacob is the son of Wayne and Betty Jo Lewis of Silver Creek. Within school, he sings in chorus and participates on the baseball, football, basketball and track teams. Outside of school, he participates in a youth soccer league and a youth baseball league. His favorite activities include snowboarding, swimming, and being outside. His goal is to one day become a math teacher or to study business.

Emily is the daughter of Brian and Linda Berek of Sheridan. Within school, she sings in chorus and participates on the basketball team. She is also a member of the builders club, the broadcast club, and the Grapevine (middle school newspaper). Outside of school, she takes piano lessons. Her favorite activities include reading, watching the Bills and the Sabres, listening to music, and spending time with family and friends. She is interested in one day becoming a sports broadcaster.
