Shingles clinic Tuesday in Mayville

February 25, 2012
The OBSERVER

Johnson's Village Pharmacy, 99 E. Chautauqua St., Mayville, is sponsoring a Zostavax (shingles) Vaccine Clinic Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Age guidelines have recently been lowered, and patients can now be age 50 and over to receive the vaccine.

A registered nurse will be on hand to administer the immunizations, and appointments must be made in advance.

Many insurance plans will cover this vaccine, including Medicare D plans. The price without insurance is $225.

Contact the pharmacy at 753-3200 if interested in receiving this immunization. Those who have had chicken pox are more susceptible to getting the shingles virus, and the immunization may reduce the incidence and severity of shingles outbreaks.

The pharmacy will contact your doctor and insurance to check coverage so advance planning is needed.
