Twenty years ago - 1992
A dinner dance at the Kosciuszko Club honored 25- and 50-year members of Murray Hose Co. No. 4 in Dunkirk. Honored for his 50-year membership was William Helfeldt with John McGuire and Henry Niedbalski celebrating their 25th year. Louis Ziegler served as master of ceremonies. Peter Bienko, chairman and Chet Tarnowski, president, welcomed Gerard Buckenmeyer, second vice president of the Firemen's Association State of New York, as honored guest.
Thirty years ago - 1982
The Aaron O. Putnam House in Fredonia, now the WCA Home on Temple Street, was recently featured in a regional professional journal on historic architecture. The illustrated article, "The Aaron O. Putnam House: A Victorian Showplace in Fredonia, N.Y.", was written by Dr. Daniel D. Reiff of the SUNY Fredonia Art Department. It appears in the annual journal of the Western New York chapter of the Society of Architectural Historians."
Forty years ago - 1972
Dr. James M. Barnes of Silver Creek has been elected president of the medical and dental staff of Lake Shore Hospital in Irving.
Fifty years ago - 1962
A 120-foot radio tower is being constructed at the Wheeler Motor Express Inc. Terminal, 279 Lake Shore Drive West, Dunkirk, according to George Wheeler, owner of the trucking company.
