Fredonia High School picks PRIDE Students of the Month

Kaleh Mendez de Mello is Fredonia High School's PRIDE student of the month for ninth grade for December 2011. He is the son of Eduardo Mendez Bernal and Monica de Mello Patterson. His favorite subject is science and his hobbies and activities include playing the guitar and bass, Quiz club and Jazz Band.

Mendez de Mello's favorite teacher is Mrs. Corcoran because her class is fun and exciting. He plans to attend college after high school and major in biochemistry. The person in history he admires is "John Lennon, because he gave us hope."

Dylan Meyer is PRIDE student of the month for tenth grade for December 2011. He is the son of Ken and Tammy Meyer. His favorite subjects are gym and science. His hobbies and activities include playing basketball. Meyer's favorite teacher is Mr. Lauer because he is also his basketball coach. Meyer plans to attend college after high school but is undecided what he will study.

Nicholas Hart is PRIDE student of the month for 11th grade for December 2011. He is the son of Colin and Theresa Hart. His favorite subject is physics and his hobbies and activities include playing soccer, basketball, hockey and baseball.

Hart's favorite teacher is Mrs. Merwin because "she is an amazing teacher and always caring." Hart plans to attend college after high school and study sports management. He is also hoping to play baseball in college.

The person he admires most in history is Benjamin Franklin because of "his dedication to his country and for his contributions to society through his inventions." The most important thing Hart has learned in high school is that "if you want to achieve your goal, you really have to apply yourself and try your hardest."

Lurismar Alicea Maysonet is PRIDE student of the month for 12th grade for December 2011. She is the daughter of Janiris Alicea and Edison Velez. Her favorite subject is science and her hobbies and activities include going to the beach and surfing when she was in Puerto Rico.

Maysonet's favorite teacher is Mrs. Mikula because "she is like a second mother to me." Alicea plans to attend college after high school and become a pediatrician. The person she admires most in history is Mahatma Gandhi "because he was a very intelligent and peaceful person." The most important thing she has learned in high school is "English, because my first language is Spanish."
