Lakewood YMCA 3-on-3
Basketball Tournament
The Lakewood Family YMCA and the New York State Moose Association are proud to announce the 4th Annual 3-on-3 March Madness Youth Basketball Tournament.
The event will be held at the Lakewood YMCA on Saturday, March 24. The proceeds from the tournament will help provide scholarships for children attending YMCA summer camp programs.
There will be both a boys' and girls' tournament, which is open to all youth, in Grades 3-12, and divisions will be Grades 3-4, 5 and 6-8, 9-10, and 11-12, with separate teams for boys and girls.
The cost of the event is $80 per team, which includes custom team T-shirts and a pre-tournament pizza party with first- and second-place awards for all divisions. The pizza party will be held at the Lakewood YMCA on Friday, March 23, from 68 p.m., and teams can pick up their T-shirts and schedules that night. There will also be a skills contest on Friday for $1.
The entry deadline is Tuesday, March 10.
The Lakewood Celeron Moose Lodge 2587 is the host sponsor, along with McDonalds, Cummins Engine Company, Kwik-Fill/Red Apple, Inc., Truck-Lite, and Signature Paving & Sealcoating. This event drew more than 158 teams last year, making it the largest indoor 3-on-3 tournament in the state. Stop in at the Lakewood Family YMCA to pick up your tournament application.

Dunkirk Little League Registration
Registration for the 2012 Dunkirk Little League season will be held today from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Dunkirk Recreation Center at the Chautauqua County Fairgrounds.
The cost is $40 per player for baseball, softball and T-ball.
A parent or guardian must accompany all players to registration. All new players must present a State-certified birth certificate. Hospital and baptismal certificates are not acceptable. This is the last registration. Any new player that is signing up for softball or baseball major league will have to try out, so they will need to bring a glove.

Jackson Center to show Miracle
Miracle, the inspiring story of Herb Brooks, the coach who led the 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team to victory over the seemingly invincible Russian squad will be shown Wednesday, March 7 at 7 p.m., at the Robert H. Jackson Center in Jamestown. The movie will be shown free of charge as a community service project of the Chautauqua Sports Hall of Fame.
Jim Riggs, sports editor for The Post-Journal, will introduce the film. Riggs witnessed the historic game in Lake Placid and will share his memories of the event.
Football Officials to Hold
Annual Classes
The Southwestern Chapter of Certified Football Officials will hold its annual football officiating classes starting Tuesday, March 6. The classes will be held at the Southwestern Middle School from 6-8:30 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday nights until March 29. The fee is $50 and includes books.
The classes will lead to certification to officiate varsity and sub-varsity games in Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties.

Indoor Soccer Tournament

Pinehurst ParTee Girls
The Pinehurst ParTee Girls are getting ready to start another year of league play.

Soccer Official Training
The Western New York Referee Association is looking for new officials.
The WNYRA in the Southern Tier is comprised of about 100 USSF Certified Soccer officials that officiate youth through adult matches.
Match officials are primarily used for covering STTSL travel games in the spring and early summer. Anyone interested in becoming a certified official and beginning a career as a professional soccer official can email southerntier@wnyreferee.org or call the local District Referee Administrator, Michael Schneider at 785-9589.

NCCYHA Spaghetti Dinner
NCCYHA annual spaghetti dinner will be held Sunday, March 4 from 11:30 a.m. til 4:30 p.m., at the Fredonia Beaver Club. The food will be prepared by "Chubbs" Fadale.
The event will include a 50/50 drawing, Chinese auction and an appearance by the Jamestown Ironmen.
Dinners are $7 and include spaghetti dinner with salad, bread, dessert and drinks. All proceeds will benefit local youth hockey.
