Chautauqua Lake honors MVP?recipients

Most Valuable Players in winter sports were recently honored at Chautauqua Lake Central School, in a ceremony attended by student athletes, parents and coaches. Results are in from the Hammerhead Swim Club's 14th meet of the season. Fifteen swimmers attended the annual Shamrock Open Meet held at Cheektowaga High School on Saturday and Sunday March 6-7.

HHSC swimmers recorded 23 first-place, nine-second place, two third-place and a total of 59 Top 10 finishes at the meet.

There were four new silver times, and a total of 40 personal-best times achieved (listed below).

to Fight Cancer

The Second Annual KC/Paper Factory Floor Hockey Tournament will be held March 31 at the Dunkirk Recreation Center. The cost is $25 per person for a six-person team. Participants must 16 years of age or older.

It is a 3-on-3 format with three games guaranteed. There will be prizes for first, second and third place.

Register by email with names to kchockeytourney@yahoo.com or call Eric at 410-0309. Proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. The event is presented by the Kosciuszko Club/Paper Factory Relay for Life Team.

Forestville Softball Sign ups

The Forestville Sports Club will be holding sign ups for the upcoming summer softball season Tuesday, March 13.

The sign ups will be held from 5-8 p.m., at the Forestville Elementary School. Any girl from Forestville or Silver Creek wishing to play, is encouraged to sign up. All participants must be 7-years-old as of Dec. 31, 2011.
