Major debate in process

March 9, 2012
The OBSERVER

It is a big debate. Where should our county be when considering Congressional districts in the future?

Democrat and County Legislator Keith Ahlstrom said on WDOE-AM this week he is happy with our current set up with the Buffalo area as well as our current representative, U.S. Rep. Brian Higgins. State Assemblyman Andrew Goodell, a Republican, would rather see us with our neighbors in the Southern Tier and U.S. Rep. Tom Reed.

Imagine that? A Democrat and Republican in disagreement over what is best for our area. Certainly not earth-shaking news.

So where should we be? It's a question our county will not likely agree on as well. Those in Jamestown would rather be with Reed and those here will make the case for Higgins. Maybe a split county is the best answer.

Either way, no matter who represents us, our taxes will still be too high.
