Twenty years ago - 1992

Dunkirk High School Principal Richard Peterson has announced that the Student Council has invited Dr. Neal Rzepkowski, national spokesperson on the AIDS health crisis, to speak to the student body. Peterson said, "We hope since Dr. Rzepkowski is a Dunkirk High School graduate himself, students might realize that this is not merely an issue they hear about on television, but one that could very well have importance in their own lives."

Thirty years ago - 1982

First prize winner at Himebaugh's Sewing Center's 1st Annual Quilt Show was Alice Deakin of Westfield. Her "sampler quilt" was machine and hand pieced and hand quilted. The Quilt Show was held at the Philip Murray Union Hall in Dunkirk.

Forty years ago - 1972

Today, her birthday, brought Mrs. Richard (Betty) Gotowka of Dunkirk the news that she had won $50,000 in the New York State Lottery.

Fifty years ago - 1962

Norma Letersky, a senior at Dunkirk High School, is the Calendar Girl for the Month of March. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Letersky, 31 North Martin St., Dunkirk.
