Attorney has role in board’s missteps

March 11, 2012
The OBSERVER

While we are on the topics of attorneys, where is the village of Silver Creek's Andrew Kehrer?

Since January, the village has:

Held an "informational meeting," which was illegal due to the presence of three village officials.

Was slapped by the comptroller's office for a questionable purchase of a Department of Public Works facility - at $725,000 or twice the market value of the land - where no paperwork or documentation is evident.

Apparently botched two votes for a new police vehicle.

Municipal attorneys are hired to work with Village Boards. But they also have a role in responsibility when it comes to handling taxpayer dollars.

Something is definitely wrong in Silver Creek - and the attorney is not doing enough to assist the befuddled and thoroughly confused board.
