SILVER CREEK - Benjamin Richard Peters has gained the Republican Caucus endorsement for Village of Silver Creek Trustee.
At age 28, Peters may be the youngest candidate in the upcoming Chautauqua County local elections this month. A fourth generation Silver Creek resident, Benjamin is the son of Richard G. and Mary Beth (Piede) Peters. He currently serves our United States military in the Air National Guard as a loadmaster on the C-130 airframe out of Niagara Falls. He is also a local real estate agent associated with Coldwell Banker.
Peters is a SUNY Fredonia graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Sports Management and Exercise Science. He also attended Jamestown Community College playing on the JayHawks Baseball Team while earning his Associate's Degree. A 2002 Silver Creek High School graduate, Ben was well-known particularly for his presence on the football field and baseball diamond, where he was named to First Teams for Section VI and All-Western New York, respectively. He continues his love of sports by playing fast-pitch baseball for the local men's league team the Silver Creek Braves.
When asked why he wants to serve as trustee, Peters replied, "I have many good ideas and I feel I can bring a fresh perspective and energy to the village board."
Peters appreciated his travels around the nation this past year while training for the Guard. Other highlights from his resume include managing the Sunset Bay Beach Club, working with the Barclays Bank portfolio and volunteering at an orphanage in Nicaragua.
Mr. Peters is open to all ideas and can be reached through the campaign's Facebook page. Village elections will be held Tuesday, March 20.
