Twenty years ago - 1992

Kimberly A. Kelly, daughter of Thomas and Candy Kelly of Johnson Road, Ripley and a senior at Ripley High School, has been named Student of the Week. An honor student, she is attending the 3-1-3 program at SUNY Fredonia. Kim is a talented singer who has been apprentice artists for the Chautauqua Chamber Singers and was named to All-County Chorus (seven years) and All-State Chorus (four years). She plans to continue her studies at SUNY Fredonia with a double major in psychology and music performance.

Thirty years ago - 1982

When the starter's gun goes off in Boston on April 19, Chautauqua County Public Works Director Bill Parment of the Town of Harmony will be one of the 6,500 runners or so who will scoot off in quest of the grand prize at the Boston Marathon. He qualified for the marathon by running an officially sanctioned 26 miles, 385 yards in Buffalo last month.

Forty years ago - 1972

Full-sized hamburgers cost just 15 cents at the Red Barn, 71 Lake Shore Drive West, Dunkirk.

Fifty years ago - 1962

Drivers for Dan's Moving and Storage of Dunkirk have received awards from North American Van Lines for placing among the first 25 out of 900 van lines for quality control.
