March 18, 2012
The OBSERVER

WESTFIELD - On a monthly basis, Westfield Middle School honors one student at each grade level as the Student of the Month. Teachers and staff had the opportunity to nominate one student who they believed met the following criteria: follows Westfield's Rules of Respect for staff and peers; shows outstanding effort and improvement or shows achievement and consistent high scores on tests, quizzes and projects; prepared daily to participate in all classes; serves as a positive role model for peers; demonstrates a positive attitude and good citizenship

Three students were selected as a Student of the Month for the month of January.

The sixth-grade recipient is Lillian Brown. In school, Brown enjoys her science class, especially the experiments they get to do. In her spare time she enjoys ballet and tap dancing, as well as playing the piano. In the future she hopes to go to college and become a teacher.

Eric Fermier received this honor for the seventh grade. In school he enjoys his science class because of the labs, and his language arts class as it allows him to express himself in writing. As a hobby he enjoys being active and having fun by playing sports. One goal he has for the future is to live a healthy life and perhaps play a professional sport.

At the eighth-grade level, Jonathan Wilson received this award. In school he enjoys his math and science classes as they will prepare him for a career in engineering. Outside of the classroom, Wilson enjoys being outside and camping. In the future he hopes to get a good education and become an engineer.
