Kenny Rogers was the main attraction at a concert at Fredonia State University College, using a new round stage at Steele Hall. A near-capacity crowd of about 4,500 enjoyed the hour-long performance by Rogers. The opening act was Shelby Lynne, the Academy of Music's Best New Female Vocalist of 1991.

Thirty years ago - 1982

From Just Between Us ... Tara Werner, in response to a letter sent to actor Burt Reynolds while in Buffalo, recently received a telephone call from his assistant to tell her that as much as Burt would like to visit her and her classmates at School 6, his busy schedule makes it impossible. Tara's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Terry Werner, 346 Lord St., Dunkirk.

Forty years ago - 1972

Charles Vara, son of Mrs. Joseph Vara, Seneca Street, Silver Creek and the late Mr. Vara, was one of the conductors in the Erie County Music Festival held at Kleinhan's Music Hall. Mr. Vara, a graduate of Silver Creek Central School, is an instrumental music instructor in the Hamburg Central Schools.

Fifty years ago - 1962

Mike Orbinati has resigned as coach and teacher at Cardinal Mindszenty High School in Dunkirk, effective at the end of the current school year.
