Editor, OBSERVER:
On Feb. 11, my article appeared in the People's column about the late LeRoy "Lee" F. Fox Medical Fund Benefit held July 31. Upon reading it I realized I had omitted a very important and significant part of the benefit and Lee's life. The Poker Run.
The Poker Run was organized and run by LeRoy Franklin of the Blue Knights International Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club Inc. NY XXVI of which Lee was also a member.
Lee was a retired 20 year Dunkirk Police Officer and Fredonia Dispatcher for eight years where I'm told he displayed integrity.
After the death of his eldest son LeRoy "Skip" E. Fox from a tragic motorcycle accident, in July 2003, Lee purchased his last Harley and placed a memorial - "Riding For My Son" 1961-2003 - on the back of his Harley.
Lee's Harley had a special place in his heart. He loved riding, especially on beautiful, fall days over to Salamanca to see the bright, colored leaves. I will miss riding with him and enjoying these pleasures.
Again, I would like to specifically thank the people who helped at the benefit. They were Layne Fox (Lee's son), Steve Gromala, Bill and Diane Berek.
And the LeRoy "Lee" F. Fox Committee members ....SGT Rick Mazurek, Officer David Pleszewski, Eileen Baldridge (author and significant), Lynette Fox (Lee's daughter), Pat Kirell, Sheila Mazurek, Robert Szukala, Nancy and Ken Tarnowski, Chuck and Debbie Noto, Tammy Winder, Valerie Wolnik, Denise Wolnik, Sue and Tim Slate.
