Memories of site, special person

March 20, 2012
The OBSERVER

Editor, OBSERVER:

Your article on the Peter Cooper Site (March 11) was great! It brought back memories as I worked there from '77-81.

I remember the head accountant walking into the lab in July of 1981 saying I should look for a new job as the place was going under! I got a new job in Buffalo in four days!

What timing that guy had. It was a great place to work. There were very interesting people there. Thanks for the memories. But there was a Doug Wielinski working at Peter Cooper as it closed. He was the very same Doug killed when Flight 3407 crashed in February 2009. He was the guy killed when the plane fell on his house if you remember.

I worked with Doug on and off for years till the crash. The adhesive industry in which Peter Cooper played a part is a tight industry.

People go from one company to another for fun and money. Doug was a significant person in the industry.
