Twenty years ago - 1992

The petition campaign to convert the J.N. Adam campus into a veterans retirement and nursing home facility is under way, according to the Perrysburg Town Board. Supervisor Cindy Lauer pointed out the need to gain widespread support for the proposal, noting there are strong political factions which are striving to claim funds for new construction of such a facility in the Batavia area.

Thirty years ago - 1982

Ann K. Roling, 31, has been named director of public safety and security at Fredonia State University College. She will supervise a staff of 16 security officers. Ms. Roling is coming from the University of Missouri at Columbia Police Department where she was named a sergeant in 1978.

Forty years ago - 1972

The National Institute of Health (NIH) has announced a major advance in the development of a totally artificial, nuclear-powered heart. NIH spokesmen said the heart had been successfully tested in calves.

Fifty years ago 1962

Charles L. Bacon, American Legion national commander, was the guest of honor at a banquet held in Floral Hall. Over 600 Legionnaires and guests attended.
