Local Red Cross chapter seeks volunteers for blood program
Do you find yourself with 2-3 hours to spare a month? Are you looking to interact with your neighbors and friends while doing something worthwhile at the same time? Consider joining the American Red Cross team.
The Southwestern NY Chapter of the American Red Cross is looking for volunteers to help with the blood program in the Chautauqua County area.
Volunteers are needed for the Fralick Donation Center, located at 325 E. 4th St. in Jamestown, as well as at various mobile blood drives in many Chautauqua County communities.
Responsibilities include helping blood donors register and serving refreshments to the donors after they donate in the "canteen" areas. Most volunteer shifts are between 2-3 hours long.

Fredonia Pomfret rec department's spring program
The FredoniaPomfret recreation department's annual spring program for children who reside in the village, town or attend Fredonia schools, is scheduled Saturday at the Fredonia Elementary Cafeteria and Activity room. Program activities will begin at 1 p.m. and conclude at approximately 3 p.m.
Each participant will receive a spring bag filled with treats and be eligible for prize drawings. InJest! will provide entertainment this year starting at 2 p.m.

Seabees to meet in city Saturday
With rotating state meetings of the U.S. Navy Seabee Veterans of America, Island X-11 Chautauqua Region, will host the 1 p.m. Saturday meeting at Dunkirk's VFW Post 1017 located at 11 Deer St.
All past or present Seabees are invited to attend. Membership information will be available along with other business items. More information is available by calling 665-5968.
Silver Creek egg hunt
The Kiwanis Club of Silver Creek will hold its Annual Easter Egg Hunt Saturday starting at 10 a.m. at the Silver Creek Elementary School playground. This event will be held rain or shine and will be held in the gym in the event of rain. Every child who participates will receive a chocolate bunny.
Hanover taxes due
Monday is the last day residents can pay 2012 county/town taxes to the Hanover Town Clerk. Town Clerk Janine Salzman reminds residents taxes can be paid at the Hanover Town Hall, 68 Hanover St. until 5 p.m.
A penalty of 2 percent has been added for the March 1 to April 2 collection period. After Monday all unpaid taxes will be forwarded to Chautauqua County.
Easter egg hunt in Stockton Sunday
On Sunday, the town of Stockton and the Stockton Fire Department are sponsoring an Easter egg hunt for the youth of Stockton, including the village of Cassadaga.
The hunt will be held in Millrace Park in Stockton at 1 p.m. Following the hunt, refreshments will be served at the firehall.
The Easter Bunny is scheduled to make an appearance during the event.
Brocton Legion hosts Barbecue Chicken & Ribs Sunday afternoon
The Brocton American Legion Auxiliary will host a Chicken & Ribs Dinner Sunday, from noon till sold out at the Brocton Legion, 110 W. Main St. in Brocton. The dinner includes chicken, ribs, red potatoes, baked beans, bread, cookie and beverage for $8.
Tickets are currently available at the Legion and at the door the day of the event. Proceeds will go to the Brocton Arch Project and community projects.
The public is welcome.
