Twenty years ago - 1992

Dr. Marvin Kohl, former associate dean and professor of philosophy at Fredonia State University College, is one of 250 internationally recognized scholars who have contributed to the new "Encyclopedia of Ethics" published by Garland Publishing and containing more than 400 signed articles by distinguished theorists. Dr. Kohl wrote the articles on "Euthanasia" and "Life and Death."

Thirty years ago - 1982

At a recent press conference held at Vets' stadium in Philadelphia, South Dayton native Bill Bergey announced his retirement. Bergey, legendary linebacker for 12 National Football League seasons, seven with the Eagles, was a four-time All-Pro. He was a second round draft choice of the cincinnati Bengals out of Arkansas State in 1969.

Forty years ago - 1972

Gerald Quinn of Sunset Bay was named "Ham of the Year" at the annual banquet of the Northern Chautauqua Amateur Radio Club Inc.

Fifty years ago - 1962

Excelco Developments Inc. of Mill Street, Silver Creek has been awarded a $300,000 contract to produce rocket engines which will be used for the moonshot program of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
