BROCTON - The Sherman Lady Wildcats jumped out to an early lead and held on to defeat Brocton (0-1, 0-3), 13-11, Wednesday in CCAA Division 4 high school softball.
Julia Palmer had a fine day for the Lady Bulldogs as she had five hits with a homer and five RBIs.
Adrienne Frew and Alyssa Roache each had four hits for the Lady Wildcats.

RIPLEY - Emilee Steger struck out 13 Clymer Lady Pirates Wednesday, as the Lady Eagles won, 10-3, during CCAA Division 4 softball action.
Steger allowed three runs on six hits and did not allow a walk while adding a single and two RBIs at the plate for the Lady Eagles, who broke the game open in the bottom of the fifth.
Ahead 4-1 heading into the bottom of the fifth, the Lady Eagles used four hits and a pair of Lady Pirate errors to put up six runs. Sam Trevelline had a two-run single while Hawkins and Steger each had an RBI single.
Sam Trevelline and Shanda Mellors finished with two hits and two RBIs each while Emily Trevelline finished with a pair of hits in the win.
For Clymer, JoLinda Rhodes suffered the loss in the circle, allowing 10 runs (seven earned) on 10 hits while striking out one and walking four. At the dish, Lauren Eggleston and Rhodes (RBI) were both 2 for 4 while Carly McAfoose added a pair of hits. Kaeli Einink plated a run with an RBI double while Amy Griffin added a pinch-hit RBI single.
