Silver Creek impressive in first win of season

SILVER CREEK - The Silver Creek Black Knights finally broke into the win column Friday as they defeated Salamanca (1-4, 1-1), 15-2, Friday in CCAA Division 2 high school softball.

After a 14-hit performance went to waste earlier in the week in a loss to Randolph, the Black Knights belted 13 hits Friday in the win.

Leadoff hitter Christina Williams set the tone for Silver Creek with a 3-for-3 effort. She scored two runs, stole a base and belted a double. Makalah Jones followed with a 2-for-3 performance with a run, two RBIs and two stolen bases. Hayley Trippy contributed in the win with a double, triple and two runs scored. Also, Liz Golubski added three hits, two stolen bases and an RBI for the winners.

Ally Harford was the winning pitcher as she struck out three, scattered five hits and faced just 26 batters.

Cassadaga Valley 21, Randolph 8

RANDOLPH - Kristi Zink had a home run, two doubles and two singles to lead Cassadaga Valley to a 21-8 win over Randolph (2-4, 1-2) in Division 2 softball on Friday.

The Lady Cougars scored three runs in the first, second and fourth innings and then had six in each the fifth and sixth innings.

Kelcie Brown had a triple and three singles for Randolph and with three singles each were Jessica Burch, Brook Draggett and Maya Sischo.

Winning pitcher Sischo allowed seven hits and three walks and struck out three.

For Randolph, Mandy Finch and Kaylee Luce each had a home run and a single.

The losing pitcher was Hilary Clinger, who pitched six innings. Luce pitched the seventh.
