The Center has already been presented two plaques proclaiming it as 1990 and 1991 Job Corps II award winners for the Best Use of Pets to Augment the Group Living Program. In addition to teaching responsibility, the program is a means of promoting nurturing similar to that required in parenting skills, and to soothe feelings of homesickness. The students have to apply for the pets and demonstrate they are willing to accept full responsibility for their care.
