Twenty years ago - 1992

A pet therapy program initiated at the Cassadaga Job Corps Center two years ago has achieved a significant degree of success. The Center has already been presented two plaques proclaiming it as 1990 and 1991 Job Corps II award winners for the Best Use of Pets to Augment the Group Living Program. In addition to teaching responsibility, the program is a means of promoting nurturing similar to that required in parenting skills, and to soothe feelings of homesickness. The students have to apply for the pets and demonstrate they are willing to accept full responsibility for their care.

Thirty years ago - 1982

From Just Between Us ... According to area relatives, Art Sickelco, a Dunkirk native, has come out of retirement to resume training 25 race horses for Hillview Farms at Thistle Downs Racetrack in Cleveland.

Forty years ago - 1972

After two semesters at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in England, Terence Centner is now in Glenrothes, Scotland, where he is landscape architect for the Development Corporation of Glenrothes. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry D. Centner of Chestnut Road, Dunkirk.

Fifty years ago - 1962

The new 1,500-gallon tanker was delivered last night. Driving the tanker from Elmira were Fire Chief Richard Butts and John McCraith.
