The Northwest Varsity Girls indoor soccer team traveled to Monroe Community College on Sunday, April 22 to participate in the annual Spring Tournament for high school age teams. The girls placed second in their pool and then defeated Kendall in the semifinals and Central Western United in overtime in the finals to win the event. Wednesday Night

Lady League

The Wednesday Night Ladies League at Cassadaga Country Club will begin its season with an optional scramble round, followed by an organizational meeting Wednesday. If weather does not allow for a round of golf, the meeting will be held at 7 p.m.

League play will start the following Wednesday, May 2. Any questions can be directed to Pat Kaus.

Green?Meadows Monday Morning Senior League

The Green Meadows' Monday morning Senior Mens league will start play April 30 and are looking for golfers interested in being a sub during the season.

It is an 18-hole match play league with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. Green fees are at the special Sr. League rate for either walkers or riders. Subs can play as often or little as they want. If interested, call Green Meadows at (814) 725-5009 by Saturday with your name and phone number.

Cummins Run rescheduled

Cummins Inc., Jamestown Engine Plant, will sponsor its sixth annual 5K run/walk to benefit the Prendergast Library Literacy Center, but the event has been postponed from spring to fall.

Saturday, Sept. 29 is the date chosen to accommodate availability of timers.

The event has previously been held on the Saturday of Mother's Day weekend.

Wilmot wins 2012 DLBA Masters Tournament

Josh Wilmot topped a field of 36 bowlers to win the 2012 Dunkirk Lakeshore Bowling Association Masters Tournament sponsored by Hi-Tech Services of Hamburg.

Eighth seeded Wilmot went undefeated through the double-elimination match play finals, defeating third seeded Ben Montague 222-210 in the championship match. Montague, the 2008 Masters champion, bowled extremely well in defeat, averaging 236 over six games of match play.

Wilmot took first followed by Ben Montague, Mike D'Amico, Tom Jagoda, James Golubski, Joe Jagoda, Alex Haase, Dan Struzynski, George Majkut, Joe Dittiger, Brian Schulz, Scott Jagoda, Robert Smith, P.J. Azzarella, Jerry Jesionowski and Jake Kuehn.
