Twenty years ago - 1992
Heated debates were held, an extension of Superintendent Terry Wolfenden's contract was denied, and reports on the School 7 landmark on Lake Shore Drive East were given during a rocky Dunkirk Board of Education meeting. Tempers flared over the grant for the summer Head Start program, with board member Dr. Robert Manzella applauded after saying he finds it hard to believe people would complain about the district receiving grants.
Thirty years ago - 1982
The Red Wing Co. Inc. of Fredonia announced today that it has purchased the Western Food Products Co. Inc., a private label packer with similar products and plants in Kansas and Colorado. Western Foods will be operated as a separate division with continuation of present management and trading policies. The combination of the two companies is expected to result in strengthening both and offering greater growth potential for all of the personnel.

Karen L. McEwan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde McEwan, School Street, Brocton is the Student of the Week. She is a senior at Brocton Central School.

A portable altar has been presented to the Chautauqua County Home in Dunkirk by Court St. Catherine 250, Catholic Daughters of America and Dunkirk Common Council 929 Knights of Columbus.
