Devils retain national IWLCA poll placement

April 26, 2012
Special to the OBSERVER , The OBSERVER

For the second straight week, the Fredonia State women's lacrosse team has received votes in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association NCAA Division III poll.

The Blue Devils are among a group of six teams listed in the category of "also receiving votes" -- just below the Top 20 list. They also received votes last week, the first time a Fredonia State women's lacrosse team had been recognized in the national poll.

Cortland stayed at No. 2. The Red Dragons defeated the Blue Devils, 8-7, last Saturday at University Stadium.

Another SUNYAC team, Oneonta, also received votes.

Salisbury is No. 1 nationally.

The Blue Devils won a non-conference home match Wednesday vs. Elmira before they close out the regular season at home 1 p.m. Saturday vs. Oswego.
