Rural Life Sunday set for May 6

April 28, 2012
The OBSERVER

LAKEWOOD - On Sunday, May 6 at 11 a.m., Rural Life Sunday will be observed at Lakewood United Methodist Church.

Every year the Chautauqua Soil & Water Conservation Commission, along with the Chautauqua County granges sponsor Rural Life Sunday. America's network of 3,000 conservation districts across the country are working on the ground each and every day with local farmers, ranchers and landowners to protect the soil, water and air for future generations. During the final week of April special emphasis is given to the celebration of soil and water stewardship. It is at this time of year that members gather together with a local church to pause and give attention to God and His blessings.

The public is invited to attend this special service at the Lakewood United Methodist Church with the Rev. Violet Davidson. At the conclusion of the morning service, everyone will receive a seedling to be planted in their respective yards, and then all will gather in the fellowship hall for a buffet luncheon. Everyone is encouraged to attend and bring a dish to pass.

For more information, contact Pomona Chaplain Art Kinney at 326-7797 or the Lakewood United Methodist Church.
