Thursday blood drive at Brooks

The Community Blood Bank is holding a blood drive at Brooks Memorial Hospital from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday. Walk-ins welcome, no appointment is necessary to save a life.

Summer is the hardest time of the year for the blood supply and the Community Blood Bank is working to prepare now to make sure there is enough blood for the upcoming Memorial Day weekend and beyond. Almost 30 percent of all donated blood comes from students 23 years old and younger with May being the last month for school blood drives until September.

"The more blood we get now the better the summer will be," said Dan Desroschers, director of marketing at the Community Blood Bank. "We are expecting a terrible summer and want to do all we can to be ready."
