Dunkirk Chamber meets again May 9

The Dunkirk Chamber of Commerce is holding a board meeting on May 9 at JCC North in Room 115 at 4 p.m. All members and non-members of the chamber are welcome to attend.

The group will discuss its Music on the Pier sponsorship and hear from county representatives regarding tourism initiatives.

Chiavetta's chicken barbecue Sunday at Silver Creek church

The Lutheran Zion Church, 11 Porter Ave., Silver Creek, will hold a Chiavetta's chicken barbecue Sunday from noon to sold out. Presale tickets are $8 from any Zion member or $9 at the door. The meal includes Chiavetta's chicken, potato salad, tossed salad, a roll, dessert and a beverage (coffee or water). Some of the proceeds will go to help the Chautauqua County Lutheran Center. Road closings

The city of Dunkirk Public Works Department has been notified by CSX Rail Corporation that it has scheduled road closures on both Harrington Road in the town of Sheridan and Middle Road in the city of Dunkirk. Harrington Road will be closed Thursday through Saturday and Middle Road will be closed Friday through Saturday for track maintenance.

Children's Love Fund raffle on Sunday

The Children's Love Fund will raffle off tickets for theme baskets with quilts, along with the individual sale of more than 40 quilts that will be on display at the Chautauqua Mall Craft Show on Sunday.

The Children's Love Fund is a non-profit organization that helps Chautauqua County families who have children with long-term illnesses. The fund helps with travel expenses and meals while a child is hospitalized, or for families who must make frequent trips to an out-of-town hospital or doctor.

Any family who has a child less than 18 years of age with a long-term illness can be helped with expenses not covered by any insurance or other agency.

Spaghetti & meatball dinner today in Fredonia church

A spaghetti and meatball dinner will be held today at St. Joseph's Church, 145 E. Main St., Fredonia. It will be served from 4 p.m. until sold out. Dinner includes salad, bread and dessert. The cost is $6.50 for adults and $4.50 for children under 12. There will also be theme baskets and cash drawings.
