Editor, OBSERVER:
When President Barack Obama was a senator, he spoke about his goal to "bankrupt the coal industry."
The EPA has now mandated that coal-generated electric plants (Jamestown BPU) must reduce the CO2 emissions to their goal or be shut down. A goal almost impossible to attain.
Recently, the EPA published the "clean air" ratings for New York state. The Western New York counties improved from an "F" to "C." That included Erie County. Only Chautauqua County was held at "F!"
The air in all of Western New York is better than ours ? Have you noticed "how horrible" our air has become?
Maybe it's because the EPA recognized we had both the Jamestown Board of Public Utilities (taxpayer owned) and NRG in Dunkirk producing electricity by burning coal in the county.
Are they trying to shut these entities down?
