Danza! dancers named scholarship winners

May 10, 2012
The OBSERVER

Bella Danzaco, the youngest performance and competitive dance company of Danza! Performing Arts Academy, was recently named the first place scholarship winner at the Dance Invitational recently held in Rochester. The Dance Invitational has a unique scholarship program for its invitation only participating studios. Each studio has its highest scoring dance invited to perform a second time to compete for a cash scholarship in front of a panel of five judges, all current professional dancers in New York City.

Bella Danzaco was selected to perform "Walk like an Egyptian" against 10 other highest scoring dances by much older contestants and took home the first place scholarship. The dancers will use this award towards their continuing dance education. Additionally, the dance earned a first place finish in their category, first place for all dances age 12 and under and first place out of all open dances for the entire weekend.

Dancers have one more major dance competition this season before their performance in their annual studio production "Viva Las Vegas," May 24-26 at SUNY Fredonia's Marvel Theatre. For more information, call 672-5095.
