Fredonia brush pickup dates

The monthly brush and yard waste pickup for the Village of Fredonia will start next week beginning May 14.

Residents are advised to have bundled brush and limbs and bagged yard waste at the curb no later than 7 a.m. Monday morning.

All yard waste must be bagged and all limbs and brush must be tied with twine. Limbs and brush must be cut no longer than 4 feet in length with bundles being no larger than 18 inches in diameter. Bundles and bags are limited to 65 pounds in weight.

Crews will make one pass only through the village. There will be no loose leaf collection.

Residents may also bring brush, limbs and yard waste to the village barns at 176 Eagle St. at any time.

August pick up begins Aug. 13

September pick up begins Sept. 10

October pick up begins Oct. 15

Fredonia flushing starts Sunday

At 11 p.m. Sunday, May 13, the Village of Fredonia will start flushing water mains and fire hydrants in and around the village. Crews will start on the southern side of the village and will work toward the north side. Flushing will be done from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. to minimize problems with water during the day.

The flushing will take two weeks and during this process, residents may experience turbid water and reduced water pressure. Village officials advise residents to check the quality of their water before doing laundry.

County Chamber Networking Mixer May 17

The next Chautauqua County Chamber Networking Mixer will be held May 17 at 21 Brix Winery in Portland.

One of the newest wineries in Chautauqua County, 21 Brix very recently received a Value Added Grant from USDA to help bolster its wine-making and distribution avenues, and to create jobs.
