Donald N. Cole

FALCONER - Donald N. Cole, 76, of East Elmwood Street passed away Thursday (May 10, 2012) at the Gowanda Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility.

Born in Fredonia on April 6, 1936, he was the son of Richard and Martha (Delp) Cole.

Donald was an honorably discharged veteran who served with the U.S. Army.

During the 60s and 70s Don and his late wife Norma owned and operated the family laundromat on Central Ave. in Dunkirk; they also owned and operated the former Coles Restaurant on Lake Shore Drive.

Survivors include a son Donald Cole of Forestville; daughters Diana (Butch) Armstrong of Warwick R.I., Elizabeth (Pearie) Jones of Little Elm Texas; stepchildren Rosemary Shongo of Salamanca, Kathleen Girdlestone of Salamanca, Suzanne St. George of Dunkirk, Marilyn Pippin of Panama City Fla., Teresa McCool of Dunkirk and Timothy Warrior of James-town; 39 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Survivors also include a sister, Virginia Thompson of Falconer, brother, Richard (Lorraine) Cole of Fredonia and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife, Norma Cole, who passed away April 17, 2011, and two brothers, the late Robert and baby Melvin Cole.

Friends may call at the SCHINDLER FUNERAL HOME 44 Center St. Gowanda, N.Y. (716)532-4200 from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday where funeral services with full military honors will be held Thursday (May 17, 2012) at 11 a.m. Interment will be in the Veterans National Cemetery, Texas.

Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
