Julie Kowal, Zoya Katta and Sophie Thompson each scored an unassisted goal as NC Concord downed SC United, 3-1, in U-14 Southern Tier Travel Soccer action. Julie Kowal received the STAR award from SC United. Alex Zentz was in the net holding SC to one goal. Also helping with strong defensive games on the field were Savannah Rivera and Tiona Pittman. The team will be on the road Sunday as they face BAYSO in Bemus for a 4 p.m. game. Pictured is Sophie Thompson dribbling towards the SC United net.

Hahhah Cybart notched the Lady Monarch's second win of the season striking out 14 and scattering seven hits. Quinn Bankoski led the offense with four hits including a home run. Katie Price, Hannah Cybart, Caitlin Cybart, Brianna Gawronski and Kiara Boyd all had three hits to back the Lady Monarch's 19-hit attack.

Don Borda aced hole No. 9 at Chautauqua Point Golf Course on May 13. He used a 6-iron for the 144-yard shot and it was witnessed by his playing partners Jason Dudley, Mike Yauch and Carl Davidson.

Annual Woody Keyser Memorial Open Softball Tournament set for June 2-3

The Woody Keyser Memorial Open Modified Softball Tournament is slated for June 2-3.

This year will mark the 13th annual event, which is held in Westfield.

The tournament began in 1999 in honor of Woody Keyser. Woody was a beloved member of the Westfield community who dedicated his time coaching and sharing his love of the sport with a generation of youngsters. All proceeds from this tournament go to The Woody Keyser Memorial Fund.

Donations from the fund are made in Woody's name to local youth baseball and softball leagues. In addition, the tournament supports the Woody Keyser Memorial Scholarship at Westfield Academy and Central School. Each year, one graduating senior baseball or softball player who exhibits hard work, dedication and sportsmanship is the recipient of this award.

Ten-man open modified teams are invited to participate in this family-oriented event. There will be a $275 entry fee. The top three teams will receive prize money and commemorative shirts.

Van?Miller Hometown?Hero Scholarship

The Van Miller Hometown Hero Scholarship Fund will be hosting its fourth annual golf tournament on Friday, June 15, at Shorewood Country Club.

Registration for the event will begin at 8:30 a.m., with a shotgun start planned for 10.

The honorary chairperson of the event will be Ed Rutkowski, a former Buffalo Bills quarterback, halfback, and wide receiver, who played for the team from 1963-69 while also serving as Erie County Executive from 1979-87.

The cost of the event is $135 for non-Shorewood members, $115 for Shorewood members without a cart plan and $100 for Shorewood members with a cart plan. All prices include golf and dinner. For those wishing only to attend the dinner, the cost is $40. Donations will be accepted.

For those wishing to sponsor the event, Gold, Silver and Tee sponsorships are still available.

A Gold sponsorship costs $2,000, and will include complimentary registration for eight golfers, including cart, greens fees, lunch and dinner, as well as a complimentary tee sign with company name displayed on the course, display of company banner at the clubhouse, recognition as an event sponsor in print, and recognition with a listing in the dinner program.

A Silver sponsorship costs $1,000 and includes complimentary registration for four golfers in a foursome, carts, greens fees, lunch and dinner. The sponsorship also includes a complimentary tee sign with company name displayed on the course, recognition as an event sponsor in print and recognition within the dinner program.

A Tee sponsor costs $125 and includes the company name displayed on signage at one hole on the course, recognition in select print and recognition in the dinner program.

Checks should be made payable to NCCF. The memo line should read, "Van Miller Golf." All entry forms should be mailed to Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation, C/O Van Miller Golf Tournament, 212 Lake Shore Drive West, Dunkirk, NY, 14048.

Dunkirk Little League Chicken Dinner

Dunkirk Little League will hold a chicken dinner Saturday, May 19 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Ed Wisniewski Little League Complex at Wright Park.
