Twenty years ago - 1992

The students in the first-grade class of Rosemary Harris at the Aldrich Street School in Gowanda will enjoy an exciting evening as they will be visiting "Barry's Weather School" with Barry Lillis and Channel 2 News. As a result of class effort and community support, more than $50,000 in grocery register tapes was collected by the first graders in a contest sponsored by Channel 2 and Super Duper. These students edged out all other schools in the Channel 2 viewing area and will be treated to a pizza party and meet the WGRZ-TV 2 celebrities.

Thirty years ago - 1982

Rusch's Restaurant Inc., including the building, equipment and land, was sold at public auction in the foyer of the County Courthouse in Mayville this morning to the lone bidder, Marine Midland Bank for $64,500. The bank holds a $221,000 judgment against the property and forced the sale.

Forty years ago - 1972

The Eagle Scout, the highest award in Boy Scouting, was presented to Thomas J. Woloszyn, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph J. Woloszyn, 77 East Doughty St., Dunkirk.

Fifty years ago - 1962

Construction of the $500,000 addition to St. Columban's Seminary on East Lake Road is expected to be finished by July 1, according to seminary authorities.
