At a recent meeting of the Fredonia Rotary Club, Jerry Trindel was awarded the highest honor that Rotary International can give an individual committed to "service above self." The Paul Harris Fellow Award was presented to the local businessman, marking the first time in the club's history that a non-Rotarian received the award. Mr. Trindel is the owner of Tops Supermarket.

The grand opening of Quik Stop Food Mart at 327 Lake Shore Drive East, Dunkirk was held recently. Craig Marx of Fredonia, the proprietor, formerly owned the Ice Cream Shoppe on East Main Street in Fredonia. Michelle Klocek of Ocelot Street in Dunkirk is the manager. She had been the manager of the Ice Cream Shoppe.

Effective June 1, New York Motor Vehicle Department regulations will require that every New York motorist receive two automobile insurance identification cards for each registered vehicle.
Fifty years ago - 1962
A new Jaycee movement has been launched in the Dunkirk-Fredonia area. The new group will be known as the West Town of Dunkirk unit and its only project will be the erection, completion and raising of funds to build and furnish a youth center for children and young people of the Dunkirk-Fredonia area.
