Hilda Louise Nielsen, 93, of Fredonia, NY, died early Sunday morning, (May 20, 2012) in the Chautauqua County Home.
The mother of Jan Hefner and mother-in-law of Dennis Hefner, she was born March 6, 1919 in Leader, Saskatchewan to Ferdinand Zahl and Elizabeth Schissler Zahl.
A California resident most of her life, Mrs. Nielsen moved to Fredonia nearly three years ago. Prior to living at the Chautauqua County Home, Mrs. Nielsen resided at the WCA Home and before that at the SUNY Fredonia President's Home.

She worked as a medical staff secretary at a Califor-nia hospital for 20 years. She was a 50-year member of the El Sobrante, CA United Methodist Church and a member of the First Unit-ed Methodist Church of Fredonia.
She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Stanley Nielsen; her sister Viola Botchin; her brother Morris Zahl and her infant brother Stanley Zahl.
Besides her daughter and son-in-law, she is survived by her son Eric Nielsen and his wife Susan of Novato, CA; grandchildren Kara Hefner of St. Paul, MN, Joel Hefner and his wife Colleen of Austin, TX, and Heather McGregor of Oakland, CA; great-grandchildren Jillian, Callahan and Caitlin Hefner of Austin, TX; and her sister Marjorie Willi-ford of Benicia, CA.
A Memorial Service will be held in El Sobrante, CA on June 30. Interment will be Belmont Memorial Park, Fresno, CA.
