A Dunkirk man was taken into custody Sunday at about 8:30 p.m. on charges of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance.
Members of the city of Dunkirk Police Department patrol division located and arrested Conrad K. Thomas, on Lincoln Avenue in the city on an outstanding arrest warrant. The warrant had been issued by Dunkirk City Court Judge Walter Drag based on information supplied by the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force.
It is alleged by the Task Force officers that Thomas, 26, of 118 Ruggles St., has sold quantities of crack cocaine to agents of the Task Force in the city of Dunkirk. This investigation has been ongoing for the past several months.

Thomas was taken into custody without incident and was held in the Dunkirk City Jail pending his arraignment before Judge Drag. He was arraigned Monday and is currently being held without bail due to prior felony convictions. As a result of this arrest, additional charges are pending and the investigation is continuing.
The Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force is comprised of officers from the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office and City of Dunkirk Police Department. The Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force would like to encourage members of the community to call either the Task Force or their local police when they observe narcotics related activity in their area.
