Rally on Wednesday in support of IGT?funding for County Home

Concerned citizens, CSEA and members of the Chautauqua County Labor Coalition will rally Wednes-day in support of IGT funding for the Chautauqua County Nursing Home. The demonstration will take place at 5:30 p.m. outside the Gerace Office Building, 3 N. Erie St., Mayville.

The demonstration precedes a meeting of the County Legislature in which a vote to approve IGT funds for the home will be considered.

Dunkirk School Memorial Day weekend

The Dunkirk Central School would like to alert parents the Memorial Day holiday will run from Thursday through Monday with students and staff returning to school May 29.

Town of Dunkirk Planning Board

The Town of Dunkirk Planning Board will hold a workshop at 6:30 p.m Thursday at the Town Hall, 4737 Willow Road to continue discussion on a comprehensive plan.

Cassadaga Job Corps will host tour and informational meeting

A tour and informational session will be held at the Cassadaga Job Corps Academy, 8115 Glasgow Road, Cassadaga, Thursday at 10 a.m. Anyone interested in learning more about Job Corps, the programs it offers and about life on campus is welcome to attend.

Dunkirk Town office closed Wednesday

and Thursday

The Dunkirk Town Clerk and Justice Court offices will be closed Wednesday and Thursday to complete records inventory. The office will reopen Friday at 9 a.m.

Local Red Cross Chapter responds to help house fire victims

The Southwestern NY American Red Cross Disaster Action Team (DAT) responded to provide disaster relief following house fires on Thursday in Randolph and Fredonia.

DAT volunteers Charlie and Donna Meder provided the initial disaster assistance.

Temporary housing, clothing and meals are services typically offered to address emergency needs.

The local Red Cross chapter will continue working with the families and their recovery process if additional services or referrals are necessary.

Lori Cornell to appear on Senior Report on Saturday morning

Senior Report with Reed Powers will have Lori Cornell as the guest on Saturday's television program. Cornell serves on the Chautauqua County Legislature from District 12 in Jamestown.

The live, call-in program airs from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturdays.

Individuals may call 753-5225 during that time with questions, comments or a shout-out.

The program is rebroadcast each day at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. for some communities.
