Chelsea Pawlak of Dee-Mack JRHS, Mackinaw,Ill., daughter of Kevin and Heidi Pawlak and grand daughter of area resident Conrad Pawlak of Silver Creek, formerly of Fredonia, has medaled in the Illinois State seventh grade 1,600-meter race held in East Peoria, Ill. Chelsea placed eighth in the state after her initial ranking of 25th prior to the event with a time of 5:32. With only four prior attempts in this event, she was switched from her undefeated 4x200 relay team at the urging of her coach Terri March. Pawlak broke the High School girls’ 1,600 record by three seconds. Chelsea also led her JRHS volleyball team to 2012 2A State Championship where they placed third in their first ever attendance. In addition, she is a standout soccer player, playing for the John Gaspar Soccer Academy of Peoria. In the same weekend of winning her track medal, Pawlak went on to play in regional tournaments taking a second-place standing after losing to St. Louis 1-0 in the championship. Academically, she has maintained an A average throughout her JRHS career.

Wednesday Night Ladies League - Mimi Smith had both the low individual gross (43) and the low individual net (37). The team of Mimi Smith and Linda Kemp also had the low team gross (104). There was a three-way tie for the low team net (78) among the teams of Mimi Smith/Linda Kemp, Bina Loftus/Linda Hodorowicz and Carroll Nalepa/Charity Mucha. Barb VanDette had the fewest putts (15).

Fredonia PBA

Crushing the ball for Cliffstar were Meghan Johnson, Chase Ibach and Sebastian Puglisi. The team's defensive MVP was Ryan Cerrie.

Fredonia PBA's thunderous offense was led by Clayton Frazier, Ryan Mendez and Cole Wisniewski. Meghan Cloos was their defensive player of the game.

Pucci's 6, DFT 5

Pucci's won a close game with Dawson Rafan and Owen Nicosia combining for the win. Nicosia, Tyler Cain, Derrick Walters, and Nico Pucci had timely hits. Michael Barnes had a great defensive play.

For DFT, Andrew Conti and Eli McKelvey kept it close on the mound. Reid Tarnowski and Brendan Plaister had two hits a piece.

Puccis's 6,

Youth Council 5

Pucci's were led by Derrick Walters who pitched a complete game with 12 strikeouts. Owen Nicosia and Walters had two hits each while Dawson Rafan, Nico Pucci, and Tyler Putney also had hits.

Youth Council had timely hits by Noah Fleckenstein, Trey Swartz and Nolan Mages. Swartz and Mages shared duties on the mound.

Moose Club 6,

Firemen 2

A four-run fifth jolted Moose Club's victory. Nathan Shuart tallied two hits and four RBI. The Moose Club pitching duo of A.J. Schrantz and Jacob Tarnowski combined to scatter five hits and recorded 10 strikeouts.

Jacob Green led Firemen in all facts. On the mound, he only allowed four hits and recorded 12 strikeouts. At the plate he hit a tape measure home run into the grape vineyard beyond the left-field fence.

Conservation Club

vs. Lakeside Club

Conservation Club hitters were Molly Kelley and Lianna Hernandez. Defensive standout was Malachi Hall.

Lakeside Club hitters were Joshua Lemanski and D.J. Odebralski. Defensive standout was Hayden Cerrie.

Dunkirk Majors

Dunkirk Exempts 14, Kosciuszko Club 2

Offense for the Exempts was spread out with Tristan Skelly, Ethan Yannie and Preston Perry each with a double. Lucas Porpiglia, Andrew Wolins, Devin Szopinski, Ezequiel Torres, Michael Porpiglia and Carlos Rosario each with a single. Defense was led by Zack Romanik. Nick Hayes, Richard Stressing and Zack Cooper all had hits for Kosciuszko Club while Hayes and Karim Levens shared the mound for Kosciuszko Club.

Dunkirk Majors Softball

Kosciuszko Club vs. Family Orthodontics.

For Kosciuszko Club, the hitting attack was led by Adina William-Cinquina with three hits and Rachel Glowniak and William-Cinquina each scored two times. Kristina White and Jailene Jimenez led the defense. Amanda Lombardo pitched two strong innings and Taylor Skelly worked behind the plate.

For Family Orthodontics, Hailey Clutter and Ashley Ricker worked the mound and Jane Fortna worked behind the plate. The hits were provided by Caelin Holt, Jamie Hemenger and Julia and Jane Fortna. Strong defense was played by Madison Marsh and Hailey Clutter.

Brocton/Portland Little League

Rexford Services Inc. 10, Mayville 7

David Miller and Douglas Lea shared the duties on the mound striking out six Mayville batters. Miller helped his own cause by hitting an inside-the-park homer. Charlie Rexford hammered three hits as he was a double shy of hitting for the cycle. Nate SanGeorge also pounded out two singles in the win. Gabe Rosa, Josh Powell and Patrick Newell each added a single.
