GOWANDA - Mabel E. Bowers, age 88, of Point Peter Road, Gowanda passed away Sunday May 20, 2012 at home. Born Mabel E. Mowry Dec. 14, 1923 in Warwick Co., Indiana, the daughter of the late Allan and Lena (Bass) Mowry. A homemaker and moth-
er, Mabel worked at various places in the Gowanda area including the former Moench Tanning Co. (a subsidiary of Brown Shoe),
Knowles and Fisher and the Gowanda Psychiatric Center. Mabel was a member of the Gowanda Free Methodist Church. On April 20, 1920 in Gowanda, N.Y., Mabel married Edward Bowers. Ed passed away May 9, 2002. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Lois) Westburg of Gowanda and a son, Alan (Rose) Bowers, also of Gowanda along with 15 grandchildren, 26 great

grand and 3 great great grandchildren. Mabel is also survived by a sister, Mrs. William (Margaret) ojnacki of Gowanda along with nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Mabel is preceded in death by her companion and brother-in-law who for
33 years helped care for her husband who was medically confined at home. Harold "Cliff" Bowers was not only family but company for Mabel during difficult times. Clifford passed way April 6, 2011. Mabel was also preceded in death by a daughter, Anita Naples and brothers Allan Mowry Jr. and William Champagne. Friends may call at the SCHINDLER FUNERAL HOME, 44 Center St., Gowanda (716)-532-4200.
