Mayor Dolce proclaims Poppy Days in Dunkirk
Dunkirk Mayor Anthony J. Dolce has proclaimed Friday, Saturday and Sun-day as Dunkirk Memorial Unit 62 Poppy Days in the city. In his proclamation, Dolce notes the members of Unit 62 "are striving to aid the rehabilitation of veterans and their children."
Unit 62 raises funds for this cause by selling poppies to the public during the Memorial Day weekend.
In his proclamation, Dolce urges "all patriotic citizens to wear a Poppy as evidence of our gratitude to the men and women of this country who have risked their lives in defense of the freedoms which we continue to enjoy as American citizens.'
Newell Road
to be closed Friday
Jeff Feinen with the Sheridan Highway Department has announced that Newell Road will be closed Friday starting at 7 a.m. The town will be replacing a culvert. The road will be closed starting at Airport Road. The work is expected to be finished later that day.
Gas prices fall
Average retail gasoline prices in Rochester have fallen 6.0 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.88/g Sunday. This compares with the national average that has fallen 2.8 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.70/g.
WFAM Community Yard Sale June 2
The Westfield Farmers' & Artisans' Market (WFAM) invites the community to participate in a community yard sale on June 2 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Moore Park, adjacent to the farmers' market.
A participation fee of $5 provides the vendor with a 10-foot by 10-foot space and proceeds will benefit the operations fund of the WFAM. Hundreds of shoppers visit the market each Saturday, making this an ideal opportunity to turn unused items into dollars.
Pre-registration is not required but those who wish to reserve a spot may send their name, address and phone number via email to westfieldfarmersandartisans@gmail.com or visit us at the market on opening day, Saturday.
Payment will be collected and space will be assigned from 8 a.m. on the day of the event. The sale will open promptly at 9 a.m.
Participants should provide their own tables and chairs.
Live animals, plants and food items will not be permitted.
